Haiku - Japanese pattern stencil
A high detailed, reusable, multipurpose stencil, made of food safe (FDA approved) 190 micron Mylar with a solvent proof polyester film.
This is a stencil featuring 4 Japanese poems
Total design size: 26.5 cm x 18 cm (10.5" x 7")
Each ideogram is approx. 1.5 x 1.5 cm (0.6" x 0.6")
POEMS:
One of the best-known Japanese haiku is Matsuo Bashō's "old pond":
古池や蛙飛び込む水の音
ふるいけやかわずとびこむみずのおと
Translation:
old pond
frog leaps in
water's sound
Another haiku by Bashō:
初しぐれ猿も小蓑をほしげ也
はつしぐれさるもこみのをほしげなり
Translation:
the first cold shower
even the monkey seems to want
a little coat of straw
As another example, by Bashō
富士の風や扇にのせて江戸土産
ふじのかぜやおうぎにのせてえどみやげ
Translation:
the wind of Fuji
I've brought on my fan
a gift from Edo
This haiku example was written by Kobayashi Issa:
江戸の雨何石呑んだ時鳥
